Regular checkups and physical exams with a naturopathic doctor are important to ensure optimal health and wellness. Many people think that if they are healthy, they can skip an annual wellness checkup, but this isn’t necessarily the case.

A naturopath will dive deep into your health, looking at all aspects of your lifestyle to get a complete picture of your health.  A naturopathic doctor can give you course corrections, possibly preventing you from unnecessary pain and discomfort. But the ultimate goal is for you to live a more fulfilled, rewarding life that goes beyond prevention.

Instead of waiting until you have a health issue, visit your naturopath so they can ensure that you don’t have any underlying issues or are at risk of health problems.

Annual Wellness visits basically provide your naturopathic doctor with a status update on your overall health. They can help guide you to make choices that promote better health, and they can catch health problems early.

These visits may include:

  • A thorough physical examination

  • Checking your vitals

  • Examination of personal and family medical histories

  • Discussion of current lifestyle and health choices

  • Obtaining a lab requisition to look at health biomarkers as part of an annual check-up

  • Establishing a plan for your health based on reviewing all the findings

It’s important to tell your naturopath about any health questions, concerns, or problems during your wellness visit. Starting a dialogue about your health greatly improves the quality of your care.

Pap Examination

A pap smear test is to look for changes in cervical cells in case they turn cancerous. This test can help detect cancer at early stages and gives the patient the best chance of fighting it.

You should have a pap test on average every 3 years if you are between the ages of 25 to 69. If you’re due, you can contact Tonume Integrated Health Clinic to schedule one with me as soon as possible.
